| | Septic System Assistance | The Strodes Creek Conservancy (SCC) would like to offer septic system maintenance assistance to the Hancock Valley and Wayland Heights subdivisions. The SCC has received funding to clean out septic systems and make minor repairs on a limited number of systems. Since the number of homes to be assisted is limited, applications will be accepted. Systems in need of repairs will be evaluated and selected based on existing system components, amount of discharge, location of discharge, watershed impact, and available repair area.
Untreated sewage waste is a major source of pollution to our creeks and streams within the Strodes Creek watershed. Proper septic system maintenance can significantly reduce this pollution source. The SCC seeks to improve water quality conditions in the Strodes Creek watershed by assisting with the maintenance and possible rehabilitation of your onsite wastewater system.
This project is funded in part by a grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency under §319(h) of the Clean Water Act, a 20% cost share match from you, the homeowner, fee waiver for disposal of septic waste from Winchester Municipal Utilities, and partial project cost from the Clark County Fiscal Court. The 20% match from the homeowner would be $28.30 for a septic tank cleaning. Systems in need of repair and selected for funding by this program also require a 20% cost share match from the homeowner. This match would be 20% of the total repair cost.
Please contact the SCC at 745-4042 if you have any questions. |
| | Agricultural BMP Cost Share Assistance Available | | The Strodes Creek Conservancy (SCC) would like to offer agricultural best management practice assistance to landowners in the Strodes Creek watershed. The SCC has received funding to install approximately 3 miles of fencing along creeks in the Strodes Creek watershed and provide alternative water supplies for livestock that have been fenced out of those creeks. If you desire to use city water as your alternative water source, the project does not pay for the cost of the hook-up. The project only applies to fields that have livestock in them and use the creek as a water source. Assistance is available on a first come-first served basis. A 75:25 cost share ratio will be administered to help offset the cost of installing the BMPs with the SCC paying 75% of the cost of the practice and you paying 25 % of the cost of the practice. The 25% cost share match does not have to be cash; it can be in the form of in-kind services such as labor, equipment, and materials We would like to emphasize that this program is fairly noncompetitive since it is only being offered to those landowners in the Strodes Creek watershed. In other words, you have a good chance of securing funding for a project, if you choose to participate! You may call to apply for the program at (859) 745-4042 or call the Natural Resource Conservation Service at (859) 745-2828. |
